Project Work
Gr09 working with the local community continuing to build the kindergarten, which is nothing more than a shed, building bridges over gullies, and working with the kindergarten students. Resources in the school are few and far between.
Camps International:
Our Projects: Here at Camps we are incredibly proud of our award-winning project work. Our projects have always been coordinated alongside our hosting communities, which ensures that our work is not only relevant to their needs, but also so that they can take ownership over the tasks and work that is taking place. In our experience this joint venture has helped prevent ‘tokenism’ and ensures that the projects you will be contributing towards are sustainable, well maintained and genuinely benefitting the people you will be living and working amongst.
The projects we commit to are often of such a large scale that the community are unable to achieve it alone, and therefore you will be contributing towards completing a larger overall objective. For some trips you may be working on a smaller scale project and be able to see it from start to finish, but you may also be contributing to a project but not complete the entire task. Understandably, in an ideal situation you would want to complete an entire task, but due to the nature of some of our commitments this is not possible and we ask that you remember your work is part of a ‘bigger picture’. You are playing a pivotal role within the community, enabling a large-scale operation to progress, which can only be achieved by a high number of volunteers. That said; never underestimate the contribution each one of our volunteers make, as without them, there is no bigger picture. Remember “lots of littles make a big”.
